A guiding principle behind Kemba Celebrations is providing more stylish cultural and theme design choices for today’s couples and wedding consultants. After all, our company started when a friend couldn’t find suitable invitations for her Persian wedding.

“As handmade designs become popular for couples wanting unique touches at their celebrations, we want to make sure these choices exist for Indian weddings, Asian weddings and other cultural and theme weddings,” says Kemba. “It’s important that stylish cultural and theme designs are available handmade.”

For the CoolHot Handmade shop, Kemba and Justin are focusing on dimensionality, using layers of cardstock and decorative paper, and unique patterns inspired by cultures around the world.

And to make a coordinated celebration easier, CoolHot cultural and theme wedding invitations feature matching stationery, such as menu cards, name cards, table numbers, favor tags and programs, all handmade as well.

In response to the growing trend in cultural weddings and social events – and a dramatic increase in destination weddings – Kemba Celebrations launches The Cultural Celebrations Collection, a letterpress invitation and reception paperie collection that features seven highly customizable designs on imported papers.

“Many couples, and hosts of social occasions and corporate events, want to break out of convention and really express themselves,” explains Kemba Johnson, Kemba Celebrations owner and creative director. “Unique cultural invitations help them do that in a way that adds surprise and intrigue for guests months before they arrive.”

Wedding and event planners are reporting a rise in ethnic weddings and events – and events that feature cultural elements. Conde Nast’s American Wedding Study 2006 reported a 400 percent increase in destination weddings over the last decade. Today, 16 percent of couples have destination weddings.

The Cultural Celebrations Collection by Kemba Celebrations draws inspiration from the cultures of India, West Africa, Ireland, Japan, Hawaii, Korea and Persia. In designing the letterpress collection, Kemba Celebrations designers studied historical decorative arts, architecture and textiles from around the world.

Each suite is a family of designs, including save-the-date, invitation suite and matching items for the reception. Customers can choose to letterpress on textured imported Italian paper in six colors or imported metallic paper in five colors. They can also choose from 18 inks.
